CEO YWCA of Minneapolis, Retired
Nancy Hite spent thirty five years in nonprofit leadership, developing and managing programs to assist youth, women, and families in leading more productive lives. She was Executive Director of the Minneapolis Youth Diversion Program for sixteen years, where she expanded outreach services to youth in schools and homes by developing specialized services for sexually exploited and homeless youth, truant youth, and culturally specific programs for youth of color. She served as CEO of the YWCA of Minneapolis for over twelve years, tripling the size of the agency by adding service locations and expanding programs. Under her direction, the Public Policy department was established, and the Racial Justice Department developed several anti-racism initiatives, including Unlearning Racism Training and It's Time to Talk: Dialogues on Race. She developed a partnership with Minneapolis Public Schools to build and operate the Minneapolis Sports Center, an inner-city indoor multi-sport complex.
Nancy has served on a number of boards and commissions in the community, including the Minneapolis Initiative Against Racism, the Board of the Children's Law Center, the Governor's Task Force on Missing Children, and the Nicollet Mall Advisory Board in Minneapolis. She served as President of the United Way Council of Agency Executives, and the Minnesota Youth Intervention Programs Association. She chaired the Minnesota TWINS Community Foundation and served two terms on the Board.
After retiring in 2005, Nancy has been appointed to the Shoreview Human Rights Commission, and is the founding board chair of Foundation IX.
