Foundation IX has helped more girls play sports and so have you!  Recently, Foundation IX awarded Let Me Play grants to 26 girls from across the state of Minnesota.  The average age of grant recipients was 12 and the average grant amount was $223.  For some girls, it was needed support to attend summer basketball or swim camp. For other girls it was used to purchase softball cleats and a mitt or their soccer uniform.  Recipients covered every corner of the state, from Isanti to Faribault and S. St. Paul to Ogilvie.  To date, Foundation IX has awarded 165 grants to girls in Minnesota totaling nearly $60,000!

Take Jackie Joyner-Kersee's basketball skills, Bill Gates's business chops, and Santa's devotion to giving, and you'll approximate the whirlwind that is Shelly Boyum-Breen. In 2006, the erstwhile Augsburg basketball coach started Foundation IX, a nonprofit helping Minnesota girls afford the equipment and registration they need to compete in sports. More than 350 applied for grants last year and Boyum-Breen could only help 68. Yet by securing major sponsors, she's moving toward not only supplying more skates and uniforms for female athletes, but perhaps even college tuition.

25 grants given to Minnesota Girls totaling nearly $10,000! Since 2007, Foundation IX has granted nearly $30,000 to 98 Minnesota Girls.

We are giving girls more than money. Through grants for participation fees and equipment costs in sport and organized fitness activities we give girls the opportunity for personal growth they may not have been able to realize otherwise.
